Dana’s due for the most intense therapy session of her life—coming to terms with a tuna fish sandwich. Dana has icthyophobia—an irrational fear of fish. She’s struggled with it her whole life, but for the ten minutes of TUNA, we watch as she endures an intense exposure therapy session with a very patient therapist, an inauspicious sandwich, and a few surprises along the way.
TUNA is a short, humorous film with an underlying message of hope and triumph. Loosely based on a real-life experience of co-producer Katie Hughes, the film captures the heart of conquering an absurd but immobilizing anxiety. This is a first time collaboration between Director Dawn Jones of Hearts+Sparks Productions and award-winning fiction writer, Kjerstin Johnson, Editor in Chief of Bitch Media.
The cast features Melanie Bowman Clark as Dana, Penny Shaw as the Therapist and Jeremy McLaughlin as Michael.
The crew included Kia Anne Geraths as Camera Operator, Ashley Haight as Sound Recordist, Abra McNair as Boom Pole Operator, Katie Hughes as Script Supervisor and Kjerstin Johnson as Production Assistant.
